About the shop

What does H&L Fabrication do?

Where are you and how do I reach you?

The shop is in Lafayette, LA and works as a service-area business. Call (337) 207-9506, email hlfabrication@outlook.com or use the quote form.

How long have you been in business?

H&L Fabrication was established in 2024, and the team brings 15 years of experience in the fabrication business.

What industries do you serve?

Predominantly oil and gas and commercial and residential construction, but as a custom shop it takes on pretty much any project.

Materials and processes

What metals do you weld?

Carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel. Each has its own process: MIG and stick for most steel, AC TIG or spool gun MIG for aluminum, TIG or MIG for stainless.

MIG, TIG or stick: which will you use on my job?

The shop picks the process for the metal, the thickness, where the weld is made and how it needs to look. MIG for speed on steel, TIG for aluminum, stainless and visible welds, stick for outdoor and heavy repairs. The MIG vs TIG vs stick guide explains each.

Should I choose aluminum or stainless for something outdoors?

Both resist rust. Aluminum is lighter and usually costs less; stainless is harder, stays bright longer and suits food contact. The aluminum vs stainless guide covers South Louisiana humidity and salt air.

What can the press brake do?

Bends up to 14 feet long with 200 tons of force: pans, channels, brackets, enclosure and toolbox bodies, hoods and long panels in steel, aluminum and stainless.

What does the CNC plasma table cut?

Any conductive metal: carbon steel, stainless and aluminum plate and sheet, from a DXF, DWG or PDF file. Brackets, plates, gussets, flanges, blanks for bending, signs and decorative panels.

Quotes and files

How do I get a quote?

Send a drawing, sketch or photos with dimensions, material, quantity and finish through the quote form, or call (337) 207-9506. The shop asks the questions that change the price and then quotes.

What file types do you accept?

DXF and DWG for cutting, PDF drawings, STEP files for parts, and photos (JPG, PNG, HEIC). A sketch with dimensions works for simple parts.

Do you take small jobs?

Yes. One bracket, one repair weld or one gate hinge is welcome.

Do you deliver or install?

The shop delivers locally, loads customer trucks at the shop, and installs fences, gates, railings and other site work with the mobile welding rig.

Mobile welding

Where does the mobile welder go?

Lafayette, Crowley, Abbeville, New Iberia and the surrounding Acadiana region. Travel is part of the quote, so include the address.

Shop or mobile: which do I need?

If the part can be moved, the shop is better: flat tables, fixtures and no wind. If it is set in concrete, bolted down, too heavy to move or already part of a structure, the rig comes to you. The shop vs mobile guide has examples.

Can you weld aluminum or stainless on site?

Yes when the joint can be cleaned and sheltered from wind. When conditions are poor the shop will recommend bringing the part in.

Finishes and coatings

What finishes are available?

Bare, primed or painted steel in house; powder coat and galvanizing through outside vendors; brushed or polished stainless; mill finish aluminum. The quote lists which.

How do I keep steel from rusting in Louisiana humidity?

Coat it. Primer and paint for most work, powder coat for fences, gates and railings that take weather, galvanizing for steel that stays wet. Keep drain holes open and touch up chips. Or choose aluminum or stainless where the part lives outdoors.
